Merzouga is a small Saharan village on the edge of the Erg Chebbi, a sea of sand dunes that rise to 150 metres and stretch along Morocco's border with Algeria. It lies approximately 550 km southeast of Marrakech and represents the classic Moroccan Sahara experience — golden dunes glowing orange at sunset, camel caravans silhouetted against the horizon, and nights of absolute silence under a sky blazing with stars.
